From the January 2010 Idaho Observer:

Flight 253: Staging Terror for Profit

by Anne Wilder-Chamberlain>

How on earth can anyone not be a “conspiracy theorist” when we’ve got a government that repeatedly lies to us? A perfect example of false flag “terrorism” to accomplish some government goal is the event of Christmas, 2009 and Flight 253. Government stories keep changing, the “terrorist” has ties to foreign bankers, normal protocol was ignored, and an agenda was fulfilled that would not have been fulfilled had it not happened.

On December 25, 2009 Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab smuggled a bomb sewn into his underwear onto Northwest Airlines Flight 253. The flight departed from Amsterdam and was headed for Detroit, Michigan. Fellow passengers on the plane heard a loud pop like a firecracker and saw smoke rising from the man’s seat. According to reports, the 23-year-old suspect’s underwear contained 80 grams of PETN, which was more than enough to blow a hole in the airplane. The detonator that he tried to use was acid in a syringe. Instead of detonating the bomb, the acid melted the syringe and caused a fire. Abdulmutallab was arraigned on January 8 at the U.S. District Court in Detroit. His charges include trying to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder, willful attempt to destroy an aircraft, placing a bomb on a plane and possession of a destructive device. If convicted he could face life in prison.

Witnesses swore two men were arrested

The government asserted for over a week that Abdulmutallab was a “lone terrorist.” They almost slandered passengers in denying their claims of an accomplice. But after several days of denying eyewitness reports of a second man from Flight 253 being arrested, the chief U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer in the Detroit area, Ronald G. Smith, admitted another passenger was taken into custody.

Michigan attorney Kurt Haskell and his wife Lori of Taylor, Michigan, told Metro Detroit Local News and Talk (MLive), “For the last five days I have been reporting my story of the so called ‘sharp dressed man’ …a sharp dressed ‘Indian man’ attempting to talk a ticket agent into letting a supposed ‘Sudanese refugee’ (the terrorist) onto flight 253 without a passport.” Haskell described the alleged terrorist upon his arrest as “emotionless… [with] a blank look on his face,” in a phone conversation with Glenn Beck on January 5. After the “attack” was foiled, he recalled a bomb-sniffing dog finding something in a carry-on bag of a thirty-ish Indian passenger dressed in orange, whom authorities corralled into a small, evacuated luggage claim area of the airport terminal after the plane landed.

In a lengthy dissertation on MLive, December 31, Haskell stated, “Today is the second worst day of my life after 12-25-09. Today is the day that I realized that my own country is lying to me and all of my fellow Americans.”

“Customs changed its story again. This time, Mr. Ron Smith… tells the news the person [in orange] was a passenger on a different flight,” said Haskell.

“The so called ‘Sudanese refugee’ boarded my flight and attempted to blow it up and kill me. …My story was and always will be [of] the (apparently successful) attempt, with an accomplice, of a terrorist with all sorts of prior terrorist warning signs to skirt the normal passport boarding procedures in Amsterdam. Amsterdam security did come out the other day and admit that the terrorist did not have to ‘go through normal passport checking procedures,’” Haskell said.

The old false flag trick

Will Grigg from LewRockwell.com (12/31/09) stated that, owing to a report from his father, a banking official from Nigeria, Umar Abdulmutallab, was known to the CIA and the State Department as a potential terrorist. Scott Creighton from willyloman.wordpress.com added that Abdulmutallab’s father, Umaru Mutallab, is one of the wealthiest men in Africa. He met personally with CIA officials on November 19, 2009, to express concerns that his son – who had gone to Yemen for the supposed purpose of studying Arabic – was falling into the company of suspected terrorists.

Mutallab was instrumental through his government position in facilitating the World Bank and IMF’s entrance into the Nigerian economic system. He then went on to head up several banks making himself filthy rich while the vast majority of Nigerians have remained abjectly impoverished and kept in check by ruthless police and military oppression.

Since July 2009, money from the World Bank has been pouring into Yemen to support Kuwait Energy Company and their multiple oil and natural gas pipelines running throughout the country, Creighton reported. Yemen increased its national debt to 5 billion dollars from July to September of last year. The IMF, World Bank, and Paris Club members are on the hook for that money if, with all the free-market “reforms” being forced on the people of Yemen by these privately owned international banking institutions, the poor of that nation - 53 percent of whom live on less than $1 per day according to the World Bank - were to rise up against the corrupt government. It looks like revolution and subsequent regime change in Yemen could be successful. Obama can’t allow that to happen. But how could he go to the American people and tell them that foreign investors and international banks are worried about their billions in investments in the “reforms” of Yemen’s socioeconomic system?

Enter Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and his “underwear bomb”. We have been told by an agency that has lied to us many, many times that Umar has confessed to the attack, that he was “radicalized” while in Yemen, and that he received help from terrorists there.

Sooo…. the CIA was informed that Abdumutallab was a potential terrorist. Yet he wasn’t put on the “no-fly list,” and was permitted to board a U.S.-bound plane without a passport. The individual who reportedly shepherded him aboard the plane was a well-dressed, official-looking fellow from India. After Flight 253 landed in Detroit, a second individual from India was arrested after a bomb was detected in his luggage. Then, after the attack, all the banking controlled congressmen and the Obama administration announce we will attack “the terrorists” in Yemen and thus help “stabilize” the current corrupt government of that nation.

Those of a cynical cast of mind might wonder if RAW (the Research and Analysis Wing of India’s CIA) helped Abdumutallab hitch a ride on Flight 253 in order to send a message to Langley or whether Langley became aware of the plot involving Abdumutallab and permitted it to go forward in the service of Washington’s agenda, which included escalating a previously covert military campaign in Yemen, the country where the jockstrap bomber reportedly was tutored in terrorism by al-Qaeda.

Creighton adds, remember that Umaru Mutallab’s (“Daddy Warbucks”) banking ties are to the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), also heavily invested in the neoliberal reforms of Yemen’s economy under serious risk of set-backs by the ongoing revolution. He went to the State Department and the CIA, and all of a sudden his lonely, college drop-out, populist son ends up getting on a flight and setting his pants on fire. The good-old U.S. of A can now come running in to rescue all those precious investments in Yemen that are directly tied to the underwear bomber’s daddy.

Meanwhile...

Companies are waiting in the wings with full body scanners that Congress rejected.

So will Homeland Security now make passengers remove their underwear and put it, along with their shoes and belt, into one of those bins to be X-rayed? They are pushing for the equivalent, a virtual strip search via the full-body scans. But I wonder if visual detection is enough. Plastic explosives can be made to look like all kinds of things, including clothing…
