From the January 2008 Idaho Observer:

Sovereignty, Secession and the Meltdown of Empire

By Hari Heath

Who is the sovereign in the current climate of human governance? Where do we stand in the equation of power and politics? Is this the land of the free?

These questions can be answered with a question: "Does the master obtain permission from the servant before the master can conduct his own affairs?"

What are we now? Master or servant? What should we be? How will we get there?

In America, 221 years ago, our Creator’s creation, Man, instituted a new form of government with the ratification of a constitution. From that document, a government was formed. A legislature was given limited power to pass laws. An executive was established to administer those laws and a judiciary was established to ensure that the proper application of these laws would serve our Creator’s creation with "liberty and justice for all." Or so the story goes.

We are far from such a fantasy of mythical government. This lawful chain of authority has been inverted, bypassed or scrambled:

• Hidden powers rule and subjugate us.

The CIA runs our elections and the press.

• Foreign bankers have owned our national economy for almost a century.

• The president, the courts and administrative agencies have become the primary legislative bodies.

• Our current tax systems have either no roots at all, or are rooted in communism.

• Perpetual war, perpetual fear and a police state of affairs are the glue that binds our nation and fuels the corporations, which own it.

• Torture and incarceration are the destiny of any who do not offer complete submission—if we continue the present course of "governance."

Do these times demand immediate action or are there higher forces at play here? Has the empire gone too far? Will the human spirit triumph over the treasonous aggressions and travesties of the dark side? Is patience a virtue to be cultivated as we hold the high ground and watch the evil empire meltdown?

Movement is afoot. Our inverted political realities are on the spin cycle. What will come out in the wash?

Let’s start with an original claim from the heart of America.

Lakotah sovereignty

In the northwest ventricle of the heartland, the Lakotah (Sioux) people are re-asserting their sovereignty. In a media release dated December 24, 2007, the Lakotah people announced their "Unilateral Withdrawal from All Agreements and Treaties with the United States of America."

In brief, the Lakotah declare, "We as the freedom loving Lakotah People are the predecessor sovereign of Dakota Territory as evidenced by the Treaties with the United States Government. Lakotah, and the population therein, have waited for at least 155 years for the United States of America to adhere to the provisions of the … treaties. The continuing violations of these treaties’ terms have resulted in the near annihilation of our people physically, spiritually, and culturally."

The Lakotah specifically disavow any violent actions as part of their secession but they do plan one enforcement option: "Should the United States and its subordinate governments choose not to act in good faith concerning the rebirth of our nation, we hereby advise the United States Government that Lakotah will begin to administer liens against real estate transactions within the five state area of Lakotah."

The Lakotah withdrawal from the treaties with the United States of America is based on the 1980 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties and the 2007 UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. They document a substantive legal basis for their withdrawal and the history behind the transgressions which compel their separation.

"The first official contacts between Lakotah and the government of the United States of America began in earnest after the United States conducted a commercial transaction with France, commonly known as the Louisiana Purchase, in 1803. Prior to that time, Lakotah exercised complete and unfettered freedom and independence in their territory.

"According to the fantasy of United States’ history, the Louisiana Purchase was a purported sale by France to the United States of 530 million acres (2.1 million sq. km.) for $15 million. Part of this sale included the territory of Lakotah who, of course never had knowledge of, nor gave consent to, the sale of their national territory.

"The first treaty between the U.S. and any segment of Lakotah occurred in 1805, followed by various other treaties of ‘peace and friendship.’ As citizens of the U.S. began to invade and encroach on the territory of Lakotah in increasing numbers, tensions and violence erupted. To prevent full-scale war, the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 was requested by the U.S., to allow a transportation route through Lakotah territory. The treaty did not impair the sovereignty or the independence of Lakotah. In fact, the treaty expressly recognized Lakotah as an independent nation, and the treaty respected ‘all national business’ of Lakotah.

"After repeated violations by the United States of the 1851 Treaty, warfare broke out between Lakotah and the U.S. Lakotah defeated the U.S. in the so-called ‘Red Cloud War,’ leading to the U.S. call for another treaty conference at Fort Laramie. The second treaty agreed for the U.S. to abandon the Bozeman Road, and the accompanying military forts that had been built along it, and promised to keep U.S. troops and settlers out of Lakotah territory. Almost immediately, the U.S. began violating terms of the treaty, allowing railroad and mining interests to trespass and steal Lakotah resources and territory. In 1874, the infamous U.S. military commander, George Custer, led an invasion of the most sacred part of Lakotah territory, the Paha Sapa (Black Hills), prompting an invasion of gold seekers, and provoking another war between the U.S. and Lakotah. As a result of the war, Lakotah territory was illegally occupied by the U.S., and billions of dollars of natural resources have been stolen from the occupied territories of Lakotah.

"The United States has engaged in multiple military, legal and political strategies for more than a century to deny Lakotah our right to freedom and self-determination. In 1876-77, in violations of the treaties that it had signed with Lakotah, the U.S. engaged in a sell-or-starve policy to coerce Lakotah to sell our national homeland. Lakotah refused, and has consistently refused to the present time.

"The whole Lakotah declaration of withdrawal from the treaty is vested on the power of the Lakotah people and our children. When we undertook the process of announcing the withdrawal, the capacity was far greater than most people anticipated about an individual. But throughout our history, the people have never excluded anyone within their own lifeway. One individual does not represent the nation itself, the nation represents the individual, and that is Lakotah.

"The withdrawal is for the people, the Elders, mothers, fathers, and the children. If the treaties were honored, we would not have this colonial catastrophe of alcoholism, drug abuse and poverty and we wouldn’t have the overall high incarceration rate of the male and female in the prison populations. This leads to our children being taken away by Social Services, which puts our children out of balance from learning the traditional lifeway.

"When the children can reconnect with who they are, they come back to the process of knowing what is Lakotah in the true point of view. In this true point of view, Lakotah is about being free and left alone, so we can govern and save our own with the teachings of the Animal Nations.

"We are the freedom loving Lakota from the Sioux Indian reservations of Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana who have withdrawn from the constitutionally mandated treaties to become a free and independent country. We are alerting the Family of Nations we have now reassumed our freedom and independence with the backing of Natural, International, and United States law. Secession.net

Secession is not just an idea among the Lakotah. Secession.net offers a look into an alternate future of individual and community liberty. A synopsis of their philosophy and purpose follows:

"At least 5,000 racial, ethnic, linguistic and cultural groups are lumped together into only 189 nation states.  Most of the world’s violent conflicts are related to struggles for dominance within or independence from some large, multi-national nation state. Millions of activists worldwide are committed to national, ethnic, religious and regional secessionist movements described variously as: Self-determination, independence, autonomy, sub-national, micro-national, separatist, sovereignty, indigenous, homeland and Fourth World. Ideological movements explicitly or implicitly promoting individual, community or regional rights to secession include: Libertarian, anarchist, anti-authoritarian, decentralist, devolutionist, cantonal, green, bioregional, "small is beautiful," communal, survivalist, radical pacifist or futurist. While these latter movements may promote differing social and economic goals, their commitment to individual liberty is strong.

"The time has come to recognize that the great nation state "experiment" of the last five hundred years has failed. The time has come for humans to launch new experiments, ones based on past experience as well as new ideas and technology. The time has come to identify principles and strategies, and initiate educational and action campaigns, to support the world’s people as they seek true freedom, true peace and true justice.

"Secession of individuals and communities does not have to mean war and violence.  It should be a natural evolutionary feature of all political entities. In the name of nationalism, religion, ideology, tradition or "the common good," the governments of the world suppress individual liberty and individuals’ control of their own communities.  Special interest-corporate-state-bureaucratic-military elites worldwide, tax, regulate, bully, beat, prosecute, jail and execute citizens into submission. They discriminate against, rob, ethnically cleanse and genocide members of oppressed racial/ethnic/religious/regional groups. Without government control, these elites would have little real power over individuals and communities.

"The concept of individual liberty is simple: Individuals should be free to do whatever they please as long as they don’t harm others by using force or fraud. This is the basic ethical tenet or ‘golden rule’ of all religions. Individual consent–not some nationalist, racial, religious, tribal or, ideological construct or "social contract"–is the only legitimate basis of any social, economic and political organization. However, supporting the idea and value of individual liberty is not enough to obtain liberty. We must support institutional structures that make it impossible for public or private entities to crush individual liberty.

"In the last 50 years the largest and most powerful nation states have been building big super-national organizations like the United Nations, NATO, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization to ensure that special interest-corporate-state-bureaucratic-military elites further concentrate their control. What some call "corporate globalization" is really government globalization in service of mostly ‘First World’ corporate and political elites."

Secession.net offers numerous ideas about the purpose and process of effectuating succession for regions, communities and individuals.

Individual secession

The Errant Sovereign’s Handbook (see previous editions) provides insight and methodology for "individual" secession. The matrix of "governmental" entrapment is extensive. Our favorite uncle has laid out an interesting path to step out on for those seeking to leave the clutches of the fascistic collective of corporate Amerika.

If you’re going to walk the sovereign walk, you’re bound to wear out more than one pair of boots on this path, but if you value liberty highly, it will be worth the cost of a resole job.

Economic secession

Alternately and more simply, you may choose economic secession. What is the power that fuels the evil empire within our country? The Federal Reserve System. Secede from the FED and stop funding the enemy. Every dollar you put in a FED member bank account authorizes them to fractionalize and manufacture many more FED dollars.

This system allows Congress to appropriate, agencies to spend, wars to be fought, defense contractors to profit obscenely, the CIA to engage in extraordinary operations and the World Bank to procure the resources of the world through bogus loans.

Maybe you are too entrenched in the system for complete secession and need to keep a checking account open, but close out any FED dollar-based savings or investment accounts. Convert to things of substance and utility. Whenever and wherever possible, promote the barter system by offering to purchase goods and services in exchange for other goods and services. Free yourself from the inflationary meltdown of the FED dollar and stop funding the enemy.

Restart a sovereign economy

Buy some U.S. silver dollars and try negotiating with merchants for a new price in real dollars. Establish a network of lawful money merchants who will provide your needs and wants in exchange for real money. You may succeed in restarting lawful commerce in America and educate people about the unreal nature of the FED monetary system.

The "Demockery" of democracy

As the state of corrupt election affairs in New Hampshire has shown, "democracy" is in a state of "demockery." Why are we fighting in the Middle East to bring "freedom and democracy" to the Arab world when we can’t even hold an honest election here at home?

Dave Lindorf asked the question, "Did Hillary really win New Hampshire?"

"Polls taken as late as the day before the Tuesday vote showed Obama up by 10 to 15 points over Clinton, whom he had just beaten the week before in Iowa, but when the votes were counted, Clinton ended up beating Obama in New Hampshire 39.4 per cent to 36.8 per cent. In a replay of what happened in Ohio in 2004, exit polling also reportedly showed Obama to be winning the New Hampshire primary.

"In New Hampshire, 81 per cent of the voting was done in towns and cities that had purchased optical scan machines from the Diebold Election Systems (now called Premiere Election Solutions), a division of Diebold Corp. In those towns, all vote counting was done on the devices, called Accuvote machines, which read paper ballots completed by voters who use pens or pencils to fill in little ovals next to the candidate of their choice. The ballots are then fed into, read, and tallied by the machines. The other 19 per cent of voting was done in towns that had opted not to use the machine and used hand-counted paper ballots instead.

"The machine tally was Clinton 39.6 per cent, Obama 36.3 per cent - fairly close to the final outcome. But the hand-counted ballot count broke significantly differently: Clinton 34.9 per cent, Obama 38.6 per cent. If all the votes cast had split the way the hand counts split, Obama would have won New Hampshire by over 10,000 votes, instead of losing to Clinton by about 5500 votes."

Bradblog.com reported another anomaly:

"Analysts at the Election Defense Alliance (EDA) have confirmed that based on the official results on the New Hampshire Secretary of state web site, there is a remarkable relationship between Obama and Clinton votes, when you look at votes tabulated by op-scan v. votes tabulated by hand:

Clinton Optical scan 91,717 52.95%
Obama Optical scan 81,495 47.05%

Clinton Hand-counted 20,889 47.05%
Obama Hand-counted 23,509 52.95%

The percentages appear to be swapped. That seems highly unusual, to say the least."

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, Mr. 9/11, received 9.11 percent of the vote in three New Hampshire towns. Coincidence?

Dennis Kucinich has filed for a Democrat recount. In his letter to the Secretary of State, he said, "New Hampshire is in the unique position to address – and, if so determined, rectify – these issues before they escalate into a massive, nationwide suspicion of the process by which Americans elect their President. Based on the controversies surrounding the Presidential elections in 2004 and 2000, New Hampshire is in a prime position to investigate possible irregularities and to issue findings for the benefit of the entire nation.

"Without an official recount, the voters of New Hampshire and the rest of the nation will never know whether there are flaws in our electoral system that need to be identified and addressed at this relatively early point in the Presidential nominating process."

Devvy Kidd reported that, "while the political pundits chatter on about the shocking ‘upset’ in the New Hampshire primary between Marxist Hillary Clinton and ‘No Change’ Barack Obama, there is a storm brewing regarding the vote count for Congressman Ron Paul.

"This whole process is a travesty. Ron Paul is moving on to the next primaries, but what about the mess left behind? He simply can’t afford not to get those delegate votes. One thing people aren’t paying enough attention to is that each of these primary ‘events’ gets the candidate convention delegates. Ron Paul has zero. If he doesn’t start racking up those convention delegates, forget the White House. He can’t do that if the vote is being stolen because those delegates hinge on the vote. Rasmussen had Dr. Paul at 14% for New Hampshire. FAUX News had him at 8% all day and the machines made sure it stayed that way to the final ‘count.’

"McCain was declared the winner by several networks 17 MINUTES after the polls closed.

"I don’t know who is advising Dr. Paul or if he’s even being told what’s going on. There is no shame in a candidate paying for a hand recount. The shame is doing nothing about it and moving on as if everything is okay. It’s not. Look at all these dedicated Americans fighting for every vote for Ron Paul. Is his campaign simply going to blow off this fight for his votes?

"There has to be a fight for honest votes by the candidate, otherwise hope dwindles and so will the cash...Nobody had any wild and unrealistic expectations Dr. Paul would win New Hampshire, but his massive number of wins in straw polls simply doesn’t jive with the alleged vote Tuesday night.

"Will Ron Paul authorize an audit of a cross section of precincts or let this fraud stand?"

Devvy expresses the feelings that many Ron Paul supporters have, but emotions of the moment may not be the best way to govern. Dr. Paul’s lack of decisive action to combat N.H. election fraud brings to my mind a different perspective: This is a war! Ron Paul has been under attack by the mind-control media stalwarts, his own party officials and now the abortionists of the election process. He is also vying to become the U.S. commander-in-chief. If he fails to engage the enemies of the nation here, what does this tell us about his willingness to defend the nation and constitution, once he becomes commander-in-chief?

Alternately, his many years in the political realms and the wisdom he has gained from experience have been his guide for decades. He may know things we don’t know. He is Mr. Stay-The-Course-Of-The-Constitution, no matter what the pleas for infringement are. He has shown a consistent reliance on principles in the course he follows.

An obscure Republican presidential candidate, Albert Howard, has initiated a Republican recount in New Hampshire. The results of that recount will be the same, no matter who calls for it. Mr. Howard can clean up the rear flank of the New Hampshire battle while Ron Paul moves forward to the next engagement.

The anomalies in Iowa and New Hampshire continue to be exposed by the independent presses while the mainstream, mind-control media steam rollers over the truth. A recount is in the works. Will the general public, as a whole, ever come to know what many of us already know? Can a few well-placed indictments turn the tides of election fraud?

Japan questions 9/11

Japanese parliament member, Yukihisa Fujita, made a 20-minute long statement, January 11, 2008, in the upper house of the Diet (parliament) of Japan. He questioned the official version of 9/11 presented to the Japanese government and the public by the U.S. administration in a session of the Defense Commission.

He asked the current Prime Minister Fukuda, "How could terrorists attack the Pentagon?" He questioned whether the 9/11 "Terrorism" is a crime or a war. Twenty-four Japanese people were killed on 9/11. Thirteen were identified and 11 bodies remain unaccounted for. He pointed out that there was never an official police investigation into the deaths of these Japanese nationals. He believes this was a crime, so Japanese police should investigate the real suspects.

He then explained that, in the USA, many people doubt the official version of 9/11 and numerous websites and scientists have collected evidence that contradicts the government’s version of events.

He presented several large-scale photographs of the Pentagon entry and exit hole, the flight path towards the Pentagon, the exploding WTC towers and the WTC 7 collapse. He concluded that the Japanese government’s support of the "war against terror" is solely based on information provided by the U.S. administration. He demanded further investigation in the face of the government’s drive to support the war more actively.

Japan currently supports the U.S. Navy with refueling and support operations. The Japanese parliament is debating whether to continue supporting the "U.S. War on Terror."

The myth of 9/11 as an external terrorist attack is unraveling around the world. The evidence that 9/11 was perpetrated by insiders to form the basis for the "War on Terror" is being exposed. The "coalition" is falling apart and the real "perpe-traitors" are running scared.

The Iranian stasis

Why hasn’t the U.S. acted on its plan to attack Iran? It can’t. The world isn’t being fooled by the "nuclear threat" story. After the Iraq WMD debacle the U.S. Empire lost credibility. Try as it might with its worn out Gulf of Tonkin/Straits of Hormuz, Iranian speedboats fake video, it ain’t workin’.

No doubt, the Pentagon war-gamers have played out the scenario of an Iranian/U.S. war countless times. I suspect the outcome has been consistent: We lose. Add the factor that Russia and China are allies with Iran and multiply by the coefficient of success we’ve had trying to take just the city of Baghdad for five years and the outcome is clear.

The final nail in the warmongers’ coffin: Asia isn’t buying. China and Japan have been the major buyers of U.S. bonds—the borrowing that has been funding the Iraq debacle and much of the rest of our fiat empire economy. The Federal Reserve is near the end run of its printing presses. The Fed can’t print its way out of the domestic mess, never mind fund another endless war on Iran.

Ministry of propaganda

The media is losing its war for the public’s mind. Too many lies can’t be the truth. Consciously, many may still be buying into the mind-control media’s lies but, in the "collective subconscious," the raw data is not adding up. A paradigm shift is happening as a natural consequence.

The market share of the corporate media—the Ministry of Propaganda—is falling. The opposition press is rising and the slumbering masses are beginning to catch on—We won’t get fooled again!

The Meltdown

What will we do in the aftermath of a meltdown of the regime? We have no constitutional government operating and few Americans know enough about such things to re-implement them. Most Americans are servants who demand to be served. Limted government has become nanny government —their master and savior. They will be helpless without their masters to guide and provide for them. Personal responsibility for the conduct of one’s own affairs is a rarity in this age of corporate socialism.

About face and forward!

We can turn it around. We will be the masters, if we learn to assume our sovereign responsibilities, individually and collectively. Preparation and action now will procure a positive future. The Empire is failing and we have a focal point to rally around.

The Ron Paul Revolution is bigger than Ron Paul. Whether he wins or not, his candidacy has ignited the fire of revolution. Into the streets; pitchforks to the castle! Then back to the garden with shovel and hoe. We have a nation to build—Again!
