From the June 2002 Idaho Observer:

Colorado Libertarian candidate for Senate organizing “Million Gun March” on D.C. in 2003

Rick Stanley's vision would mobilize distressed nation

DENVER -- An upside down flag is the international sign that a nation is in distress. Colorado Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate Rick Stanley campaign is built upon the belief that ours is a nation in distress and uses the upside down flag to illustrate his point. The successful and self-made Denver businessman is so committed to the preservation of our rights that he is calling for an armed “Million Man March” on the nation's capital July 4, 2003.

Stanley is tired of seeing our Constitution and the Bill of Rights torn to shreds by lawyers and politicians. He's tired of government interference in people's lives.

As a Libertarian, Stanley believes that we all have the right to live our lives as we please so long as our actions do not harm the lives or property of others. He also understands that the tendency of government is to systematically usurp those rights and it will continue to usurp them until we stand up and defend our rights.

Stanley believes that a million polite, law abiding and armed Americans in Washington, D.C. On July 4, 2003, will send a clear message to the central governors there: We want our country back.

A million armed men and women prepared to defend the Constitution would go a long way toward prompting the removal of federal gates that are locking us out of our forests. Such a rally would also go a long way toward forcing the federal government to return the administration of our unceeded state lands back to the states respectively and to the people where, by law, they belong.
