From the January 2003 Idaho Observer:

Smallpox pandemic planned -- Are you ready?

by Amy Worthington

Throughout the 1980s, George Bush, Sr. and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shipped deadly bio-warfare agents -- including anthrax and West Nile Virus -- to Saddam Hussein.1 Now George Bush Jr. and the CDC are determined to unleash upon America the disease of smallpox as part of their phony “war on terrorism.”

Last November, Congress passed the Homeland Security Act. Section 304 authorizes the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to declare a national state of emergency and at his discretion, FORCE every citizen to take vaccines and/or medication. Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) calls the Homeland Security Act a “hoax” and a “monstrosity.”2 Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) says it grants government “dangerous and unconstitutional powers,” including “forced vaccination.”3

The CDC is an agency of HHS. The CDC's order to vaccinate every American could be precipitated by just one reported case of smallpox.4 At least 1 million persons in each state would be vaccinated within 10 days of an emergency order.5 Meantime, pre-event vaccination of health care and emergency workers, plus military personnel, is now in the works.

1. Smallpox would not make a successful bio-terrorist weapon because it is NOT explosively contagious.

Dr. Joel Kuritsky confirms that smallpox is rarely spread through casual contact. Dr. Kuritsky 's work with smallpox containment projects in India and Bangladesh revealed that smallpox is easily contained by simply isolating the sick. Kuritsky confirms that infection requires prolonged, face-to-face contact of more than seven days with a smallpox carrier who is obviously ill with a fever and rash.6 “The scenario in which a terrorist could infect himself with smallpox and contaminate an entire city by walking through the streets touching people is pure fiction,” Kuritsky stated.7

American researchers in Pakistan found that 27 percent of smallpox cases demonstrated no transmission of their disease, even to close contacts.8 The director of CDC's National Immunization Program, Dr. Walter Orenstein, states that smallpox “will not spread like wildfire.”9 Even CDC official Dr. James LaDuc claims that an outbreak of smallpox is “not the Armageddon some would have you believe.” 10

2. A government sponsored mass vaccination program guarantees a smallpox epidemic across the U.S.

Mass vaccination will implant millions of Americans with the live vaccinia virus. The vaccinated will be infectious for 21 days after vaccination.11 Newly vaccinated health care workers could easily infect their patients, those most vulnerable to infection from the vaccine. The American Nurse's Association representing 2.6 million nurses has expressed grave concern over the issue of vaccinated nurses spreading the disease from their inoculations, which can shed the virus until the scab has healed.12

3. No one knows if the smallpox vaccination creates immunity from the disease.

The CDC says the efficacy of the vaccinia smallpox vaccine has never been measured precisely in controlled trials.13 The CDC also admits that the level of antibody required for protection against smallpox infection is unknown [14] and the presence of antibodies in the blood does not guarantee immunity from disease.15

A 1999 article in the Journal of the American Medical Association stated that there is no proof that the smallpox vaccine actually prevents the disease.16 By the 1920s, British doctors noted that smallpox was more common among the vaccinated, and the death rate from smallpox was higher among those who had been vaccinated.17

4. The smallpox vaccine is extremely dangerous and will put millions of Americans at high risk of serious illness or death.

George Bush has stated that the vaccine may cost some people their lives.18 According to the American Medical Association, as many as 250 could suffer serious reactions for each million people vaccinated.19 Philip Russell, professor emeritus at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, has stated that vaccinating the whole U.S. population against smallpox “...would cause tens of thousands of deaths.”20 A Washington Post report notes that if the entire nation were to be smallpox vaccinated, several thousand people would likely develop encephalitis, an inflammation or swelling of the brain.21

CDC official Jeffrey Koplan says universal smallpox vaccination could unleash a significant number of serious adverse reactions because many parts of our population do not have a “robust immune system.”22 The American Society for Microbiology agrees that complications would be far more serious today than when routine smallpox vaccination ended in 1971, since there are millions more people with weak immune systems now than there were 40 years ago.23

5. The CDC has a compiled a list of persons at high risk for death or serious complications from the smallpox vaccine. These include:

* children under 18 -- especially infants

* pregnant women (an infected fetus could be stillborn or die at birth);

* millions of people with eczema or acute skin conditions

* millions of people who are immuno-suppressed from cancer and AIDS

* organ recipients and patients on immuno-suppressive drugs

* persons allergic to vaccine preservatives and antibiotics.24

Especially sobering is evidence that the World Health Organization's 13-year global smallpox vaccination campaign awakened dormant HIV infections on two continents.25 A 1987 report in the New England Journal of Medicine cited an apparently healthy military recruit who developed AIDS immediately after his smallpox vaccination, then died quickly.26 Mass smallpox vaccination may be followed by an explosion of active AIDS cases across America.

6. Because the smallpox vaccine is so dangerous, leading medical organizations have recommended against universal smallpox vaccination.

The American Medical Association, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians support vaccinating only those who have had known contact with a smallpox carrier.27 This approach is known as ring vaccination.

7. Both the old and new vaccines prepared for mass smallpox vaccination are experimental.

The CDC has dredged up 15 million doses of Dryvax vaccine made by Wyeth Laboratories in the 1970s and 86 million doses of forty-year old Aventis vaccine. Both of these outdated concoctions were made from diseased cow lymph.28 According to the Working Group on Civilian Biodefense, “The traditional method for producing vaccines on the scarified flank of a calf is no longer acceptable because the product inevitably contains some microbial contaminants, however stringent the purification measures.”29

The newer smallpox vaccines, to be delivered by Acambis, PLC of Great Britain, are being created from a continuous cell line of human fetal tissue or monkey serum. The vaccines will be recombinant, despite scientific evidence that genetically engineered vaccines are responsible for an epidemic of auto-immune and neurological conditions including autism, diabetes, chronic fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and MS-like illnesses.30

8. Vaccine manufacturers have a long record of “filth and blunders.”

Acambis, PLC of Great Britain is manufacturing America's new smallpox vaccine in a joint venture with Baxter International.31 Acambis is owned by Aventis, whose parent company is Rhone-Poulenc. Both Rhone-Poulenc and Baxter “are infamously known for having infected more than 7,000 American hemophiliacs with the AIDS virus during the 1980s. They admitted to foreknowledge in selling HIV-tainted blood-clotting products and settled the class action case for $100,000 per claimant.” 32

The British health care system is in a state of collapse. British drug company's sterilization procedures are reported to be barely adequate, risking the spread of mad cow disease,[33] while government ministers are said to be hushing up the scandal.34 Five thousand people die each year from infections contracted in British hospitals and 10,000 become seriously ill from such infections.35

In 2000, the U.S. FDA discovered that the British vaccine manufacturer Evans-Medeva was making vaccines for the U.S. in conditions of absolute filth.36 Medeva had illegally used bovine medium to culture its polio vaccines, and then lied about it.37 Medeva used the blood of a Creutzfeldt-Jakob victim (mad cow) to manufacture 83,000 doses of polio vaccine.38 Nonetheless, FDA allowed the U.S. to use Medeva's flu vaccine (Fluvirin) for the year 2000, with no reported follow-up inspections.39 British scientists announced in 2001 that Creutzfeldt-Jakob deaths have been attributed to contaminated British-made polio vaccines.40

9. No agency will test either the old or newer vaccines to determine what kind of pathogenic contaminants they may contain.

Numerous scientific studies reveal that commercial vaccines often contain cancer viruses, bacteria and/or cell-invading mycoplasma.41 Microbes from animal and human cell lines easily escape the filtration process during vaccine manufacture. An estimated 98 million Americans have been injected with polio vaccines containing the monkey virus SV-40. It can take months or years before such hitchhiking microbes become obvious. SV-40 is now being found in bone and brain tumors and also in Hodgkin's Disease.42

By 1961, scientists discovered that animal viruses in vaccines, including smallpox, could act as a carcinogen when given to mice in combination with cancer-causing chemicals. They concluded that vaccine viruses may act as catalysts for tumor production.43 Some of the new smallpox vaccine manufactured by Acambis will be produced on the MCR-5 cell line derived from human fetal tissue.44 Because MCR-5 is usually cultured in bovine serum, it is well-known for harboring bovine herpes virus.45 The rest of the new vaccine will be derived from green monkey Vero cells, which researchers note to be unstable and susceptible to malignant transformation.46

In 2002, CDC epidemiologist Dr. Sharon Humiston was asked why the federal government does not routinely check commercial vaccines for such deadly contamination. She replied that Congress has not given the FDA enough money to do this crucial and vital testing.47

10. The anthrax vaccine disaster could be repeated with mass smallpox vaccination.

Dr. Garth Nicolson, a world-renown cancer researcher and Nobel Prize nominee, reports that contaminated anthrax vaccines administered to Armed Forces personnel is partially responsible for debilitating chronic illnesses now suffered by tens of thousands of them.48 Nicolson confirms that vaccines are often contaminated with mycoplasma, which causes symptoms of Gulf War Illness. When Nicolson examined mycoplasma infecting sick Gulf War vets, he discovered that some strains had been genetically engineered to contain a portion of the HIV virus, making them extremely virulent.49 Apparently this HIV-implanted mycoplasma was deliberately placed in military vaccines for experimental purposes. Nicolson told Congress in 2002 that the Department of Defense (DOD) continues to lie and deny in an attempt to cover up the dangers of the mycoplasma-laden anthrax vaccine.50 DOD has finally admitted, however, that anthrax vaccine can cause birth defects.51

11. Americans who are injured by the smallpox vaccine may never be adequately compensated, nor will the families of those who die.

Under provisions of the Homeland Security Act, technicians who administer smallpox vaccine to the public are protected from liability. Only one in four vaccine-damaged children is awarded damages by the federal government's compensation program.52 And Dr. Nicolson told Congress that sick Gulf War vets are still waiting for adequate medical and financial compensation for their illnesses.53

What will it cost taxpayers to resurrect smallpox?

The CDC has paid the states almost 1 billion dollars to implement terrorism preparedness plans, which include mass vaccination. The feds lavished $428 million dollars on Acambis, a British pharmaceutical company, to concoct the new vaccines. The additional cost of vaccinating America is estimated at $5-10 dollars per person.54 Two hundred million people needlessly vaccinated at a cost at $5 each equals $1 billion. At a cost of $10 dollars per vaccination, the price tag is a staggering $2 billion. It could cost multi-millions more to support and medicate the thousands of people who may develop acute or chronic illness from the vaccine. According to National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Dideases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, 50 million Americans may be at high risk of vaccine consequences.55

What is the bottom Line?

When so many experts admit that a smallpox epidemic from bio-terrorism is unlikely and the smallpox vaccine could unleash a public health disaster, why is the Bush administration so rabid to vaccinate America, even before the first case of smallpox is produced? And why -- out of the long list of ghastly bio-weapons supplied to Saddam by the Bush family -- has only smallpox been selected as a lever for a mass vaccination panic?

The answer to both questions is big money and control of the population. There is no business like the terror business. Quite obviously, the smallpox vaccine is the most easily manufactured and readily acceptable by a previously conditioned public. A spokesman for the pharmaceutical industry gleefully reports that a phalanx of burgeoning companies are now “launching a new phase of marketing” to meet the threat of bio-terrorism. MANDATORY consumption of vaccines, as envisioned by the dastardly Homeland Security Act, is a pharma mogul's wetdream.56 Thanks to their boy in the White House, the vaccine industry expects to DOUBLE its $6.5 global vaccine market over the next decade.57

As long as the Needle Nazis smell that kind of money, the managed “threat” of bio-terrorism will predictably be with us for a long time to come. In order for us to envision a brighter day, we will have to awaken our countrymen to the fact that a loaded needle is just as dangerous as a loaded gun.
